LEARNING

OAM Kindergarten is a warm and welcoming place with caring ethos. We lay an excellent foundation for a life journey which enables our young learners to achieve successful, rewarding and happy lives.  Ours is a happy, secure, caring, imaginative, holistic and well-resourced environment where our children become independent, confident, caring and responsible students, who are prepared and motivated to face future challenges.

KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM

The foundation of our early year’s program is the nurturing of children’s personal, social and emotional development. We believe that children learn best when they are happy and secure and have formed a trusting relationship with the adults who work with them.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) which is anchored in providing activities to stimulate and capture children’s curiosity for learning. It is rooted in playing and exploring, being active and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both in and out of the classroom.

Our students are subsequently very well prepared for primary school. EYFS covers child’s development from birth to age five and is designed to ensure that children learn and develop well; they are kept healthy and safe and have the knowledge and skills they need to start school. Children learn through play and first-hand experiences through an integrated curriculum.

The curriculum gives consideration to the child’s development in the following areas:

  1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  2. Communication, Language and Literacy
  3. Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
  4. Knowledge and Understanding of the World
  5. Physical Development
  6. Creative Development

Create, Explore and Question.
Considerable effort and thought are given to make your child’s Kindergarten life fulfilling, happy and successful and the extensive range of co-curricular activities and tailored learning is planned around on this.

The school day includes formal and informal lessons where we provide challenging and enriching activities that enable our students to reach their full potential. Children participate in different activities that integrate Music, Drama, Physical Education, Art, Reading, Literacy, Math, Science and IEYC. Swimming, Football, Athletics, ICT, Art, Taekwondo, Lego, Smart Board and Music are part of the school timetable. Skating and Lamda are offered on Saturday mornings at an extra cost.

Throughout the year, there are regular class trips to parks as well as other places of geographical, historical and scientific interest.
